Narmada is one of the seven holy rivers every Hindu invokes in the tiny mug of water before taking every day bath.

Gange ca Yamune ca
Godavari Saraswati
Narmade Sindhu Kaveri
Jalesmin sannidhim kuru

This river is very important in another way. It is here  Adi Sankaracarya met his guru Govindapada and received teachings and then went about reviving the spirit of Hinduism. And without him, our culture would have died long back. Hence we owe something special to this river. Where is culture and heritage of India without Adi Sankara and Holy Narmada?

A beautifully choreographed piece on the "Journey of the Narmada":

“When a person ignores the base instinct of hunger and offers you his last morsel of food; you are in the presence of the Narmada.”
